Product coverage

The enclosure platform range

Six standard platforms cover the majority of industrial applications. Each is a configurable base rather than a fixed catalogue item — dimensions, cut-outs, finish and internal fit-out are set by the equipment and the operating environment.

Program logic control cabinet
PLC / ESS

Control & Energy Cabinets

Program-logic control cabinets, battery-storage panels and EV-charge enclosures built on the free-standing platform.

Shape, cut-out and bespoke work

Where the equipment does not fit a platform, we start from the layout instead: bespoke profiles, angled faces, special cut-out patterns, viewing windows, ventilation arrays and non-standard access — designed for manufacture from the first sketch.

Where these enclosures are used

  • Machine control, automation cells and process skids
  • Power distribution, switchrooms and substation buildings
  • Water, wastewater and pumping infrastructure
  • Renewables, battery storage and EV charging
  • Telecommunications, data and network rooms

What we tailor per project

  • Overall dimensions, door count and opening direction
  • Material, gauge, RAL colour and surface texture
  • Cut-outs, louvres, windows and nameplate positions
  • Plinths, castors, lifting eyes and wall-mount hardware
  • Segregated zones, mounting plates and internal brackets

ES and PS frames couple side-by-side with sealing strips and shared side panels, giving a continuous line-up with segregated internal zones.

Accessories

Mounting brackets, protective covers, rail sets, ducting, gland plates, thermal components, lighting and door-position switches.

Reference data. Sizes and construction reflect the standard manufacturing platform. Final protection ratings and compliance claims depend on the agreed configuration, prototype status and formal test results.

Engineering architecture

Modular enclosure architecture

A platform-based structure with configurable modules balances customisation against cost, lead time and future expansion. Each layer is specified independently, so a change to the operator interface does not force a change to the load-bearing structure.

Layer 01
Interface
Controls, displays, viewing windows, emergency stops, keyboard trays and operator panels — everything the operator touches or reads.
Layer 02
Internal
Mounting plates, DIN rails, ducting, brackets, partitions, shelves and thermal management components.
Layer 03
Protection
Door seals, gland plates, lock systems, protective earthing, drainage and condensation control.
Layer 04
Structure
Nine-fold frames, doors, side panels, stiffeners, plinths and lifting points — the load path and the datum for everything above.

Configurable features

  • Overall dimensions, door type and opening direction
  • Material, gauge, RAL colour and surface texture
  • Cut-outs, louvres, windows and nameplate locations
  • Plinths, castors, lifting eyes and wall-mounting hardware
  • Segregated zones, mounting plates and internal brackets

Engineering considerations

  • Component clearances and tool access
  • Segregation of ELV, signal and power wiring
  • Heat sources, airflow paths and filter servicing
  • Door loads, centre of gravity and transport vibration
  • Expansion capacity and ease of future modification

Why the layers are specified separately

Late changes are normal — an extra drive, a bigger display, a different cable route. Keeping the interface, internal, protection and structural layers independent means most late changes are absorbed by one layer instead of forcing a redesign of the whole enclosure.

IP

Dust & water ingress

Structure and validation planned to the project target — IP65 on sealed wall-mount platforms, IP54 on free-standing. Final ratings remain subject to the agreed test and certification scope.

IK10

Mechanical impact

Gauge selection, folded edges, stiffeners, locking points and mounting method are used together to raise stiffness and resistance to deformation.

UV / C

Outdoor & corrosive

Materials, coatings and fasteners selected for UV, salt, temperature cycling, condensation and chemical exposure — including stainless and marine-grade options.

Standard colour

RAL 7035 light grey, epoxy-polyester powder coat with texture finish, is standard across AE, ES, PS, PC and AP/AD. Server racks are finished RAL 9005 black. Alternative RAL colours, gloss levels and two-tone schemes are available to order.

Coating process

Degrease, phosphate pre-treatment and rinse, dry, electrostatic powder application, then oven cure. Coating thickness, adhesion and colour are checked as part of in-process inspection.

Compliance. Protection ratings, environmental performance and compliance claims depend on project requirements, prototype status and formal test results. Concept design does not replace type testing or certification.
10
Manufacturing pathway

From drawing to finished product

01Material & Flat Pattern

Material confirmation, nesting, flat-pattern verification and batch traceability.

02Cutting / Punching

Laser cutting or CNC punching of profiles, cut-outs and mounting holes.

03Bending & Forming

Controlled bend sequence, dimensions, angles and spring-back compensation.

04Welding & Dressing

Spot, seam and stud welding followed by grinding and surface dressing.

05Surface Finish

Pre-treatment, powder coating, passivation or anodising, then oven cure.

06Sealing & Assembly

Seals, locks, hinges, earth bonds and accessories installed.

07Pre-installation

Mounting plates, rails, ducting, fans and panel hardware fitted.

08In-process Inspection

Critical dimensions, door gaps, flatness and function checked.

09Final Verification

Fitment, earthing, protection and cosmetic acceptance.

10Packing & Delivery

Protective packaging, labelling, documentation and batch records.

Engineering–manufacturing collaboration

During design we check bend access, weld distortion, coating masks, tool access, assembly sequence and transport packaging — so that the first article validates the design instead of exposing avoidable rework.

Optimised for rapid prototyping

Standard material stock, common lock and hinge hardware, and low-tooling processes accelerate first-article validation while keeping the design flexible enough to change after review.

Ready for repeatable production

Drawing release, critical-feature definition, inspection tooling and a supply-chain substitution strategy support consistent output across repeat batches.

11
Integration scope

Designed around equipment integration

An enclosure is only correct once the real equipment, real cables and real service actions fit inside it. We design from the internal layout outwards.

Internal mechanical integration

  • Mounting plates, DIN rails, ducting and component brackets
  • Layout of drives, PLCs, industrial PCs, batteries and power supplies
  • Installation of sensors, cameras and HMI hardware
  • Fans, filters, heat exchangers and cooling components

External interface integration

  • Emergency stops, pushbuttons, indicators and display windows
  • Cable glands, industrial connectors and service ports
  • Hinged doors, drawers, slides and removable panels
  • Castors, forklift pockets, lifting points and fixed plinths

12
Quality control

Critical quality control points

A

Drawings & revision control

Consistent datums, critical tolerances, materials, colours, finishes and revision status.

B

Form & cut-outs

Overall dimensions, door gaps, diagonals, mounting holes and interface positions treated as critical characteristics.

C

Structure & function

Functional verification of doors, locks, hinges, drawers, mounting plates and removable components.

D

Welds & finish

Inspection of welds, dressing, edges, coating colour, thickness, adhesion and cosmetic defects.

E

Earthing & safety

Protective bonding of doors, body and mounting plate, plus sharp-edge and pinch-point checks.

F

Sealing & environment

Gasket continuity and compression, cable entries and drainage, with project-specific testing.
